Urban Health Program Resource Center
Introduction
The UHP Resource Center offers support for students interested in pursuing a career in science or health professions. The Center is set up to provide educational and advising services to help prepare and guide future health care professionals, with attention to student populations that have been underrepresented in health careers. The Resource Center includes faculty and staff mentors who meet with students to help keep them on their journey towards fulfilling educational pathways.
The UHP Resource Center provides the following services:
- Comprehensive orientation to health professions programs and to the UIC campus
- Academic seminar series
- Workshops and skill building assessment
- Application and enrollment assistance
- Test preparation
- One-on-one counseling, academic support and mentoring
- Transcript Evaluation, course selection and career planning
- Networking opportunities with students, faculty, staff, community leaders and healthcare professionals
- Connections to external research opportunities, internships, field experiences and mentor relationships
